BRUSSELS (Reuters) – The European Commission said on Thursday it had referred the Czech Republic, Ireland, Romania, Slovakia and Spain to the EU Court of Justice for failing to bring into force the revised Audiovisual Media Services Directive.
The committee said it had called for monetary sanctions against the countries because they transposed the new directive, which sets out EU-wide media content criteria for all audiovisual media, until September 2020.
