After 18 years of service in the Division of Mathematics and Science at Indepfinishence Community College, Dr. Mona Saleh will retire at the end of the current educational year.
Saleh was born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt. In 1986, he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics and physics from Alexandria University, Egypt. He then decided and won a PhD scholarship from the University of Kaiserslautern in Kaiserslautern, Germany, where he received his PhD in physics. While in Germany, Dr. Saleh met her husband, Richard.
In 2000, Dr. Saleh moved to the United States, where she worked at IVY Tech, Vincennes University, Southern Indiana University, and the University of Montana. She then moved to Independence in 2004 to begin her position as Professor of Physical Sciences at CCI. .
“I’m very excited about the advancement of science labs, compared to the schools and universities I worked at before,” Saleh explained. “The motivation is limitless and continued to develop year after year. “
Saleh has not only taught college courses, but has also worked with science clubs in the domain to help promote a love of science in rural communities. He partnered with the local library to lecture and help with the NASA exhibit and organized sessions at the observatory for all age groups.
“Overall, I enjoyed being a part of THE ICC and hope I have been a positive addition to their culture,” Saleh said. “The math and science department is my favorite. The wisdom and professionalism of the university are all you can be proud of. “
Dr. Saleh also awarded the name of Master Faculty Member of the Year 2022.
