DHS publishes RFI of COVID-19 detection technology

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Directorate of Science and Technology (S-T) has issued a request for data to look for potential resources of non-invasive febrile temperature detection technologies to assist in COVID-19 reaction efforts.

DHS said Tuesday that it is contemplating non-contact temperature thermography technologies designed for mass fever detection at ports of entry. The branch aims to satisfy the wishes of the coverage facilities and the first responses through market research.

“While mass fever detection is not a panacea to return to ‘normality’ given the reported asymptomatic case rates, it is even more vital to explore and use all the imaginable equipment we have,” said Bhargav Patel, senior technologist at national Urban Security Technology Laboratory.

Interested providers have until August 31 to submit their responses to DDR
