Claim: A photo from the Build, Build, Build microsite of the Ministry of Public Works and Roads (DPWH) shows a concept or representation of the ongoing assignment of the Panguil Bay Bridge in Mindanao.
Supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte and Facebook user Dax Samonte used the same photo (see below) in an article on November 18 and obtained at least 190 reactions, 20 comments and 224 actions.
The title of the article says:
HOW CAN YOU EXCEED A HEAD OF STATE WHOSE VISIONS OF GOOD DEVELOPMENT ARE CURRENTLY MADE BY THE POPULAR PROGRAM “build build build”?Here’s an example. Once a vision. Now on the paint table, then implementation. WHO WANTS TO END THE PROPER USE OF POPULAR TAXES?
Rating: MIXTE
The facts: In its report on the Panguil Bridge on the Build, Build, Build microsite, the DPWH mistakenly used a photo of the Incheon Bridge in South Korea.
Although the two bridges have similarities in design, the Incheon Bridge, which at 21. 39 kilometers is the longest in South Korea, is roughly 6 times the length of the Panguil Bridge, which is expected to measure about 3. 7 kilometers when is finished.
An inverted symbol search for the photo used through DPWH and through Samonte produced effects on the Panguil Bay Bridge Project and the Incheon Bridge.
The original photo of the Incheon Bridge appears on roadtraffic-technology. com, which covers the latest news about the global traffic industry and similar technologies. This published an article on the Incheon Bridge.
Below is a comparison of the deceptive mirror symbol of incheon Bridge on the BUILD, Build, Build microsite of DPWH and the original photo of the Korean bridge used in roadtraffic-technology. com.
Real images of the Korean bridge are also on the Samsung C website
Several local blogs such as autoindustriya. com, lamudi. com, wherebacolod. com and philippineslifestyle. com also bore the misleading symbol of the mirror photo of the Incheon Bridge and misunderstood it as a pre-construction perspective of Panguil Bay Bridge.
Panguil Bay Bridge will connect the city of Tangub with Western Misamis and the city of Tubod with North Wool. Based on your online milestone on the Build, Build, Build website, the implementation of the assignment is 14. 4% total at the time of publication.
The allocation is financed through a $100. 13 million loan from the Korea Export and Import Bank’s Economic Development Cooperation Fund. An article through Rappler about the signing of the contract in April 2016 included a comic strip prior to the construction of the bridge, another of what had happened by the DPWH on its microsite.
While the main microsite Build, Build, Build used the misleading photo of the Incheon Bridge, it seems that DPWH in the past used a correct concept photo of the bridge. A concept photo credited to build. gov. ph was quoted through the aboutcagayandeoro. com blog in its October 5 report on the proposed bridge.
Some government agencies and Internet sites have also used the correct concept photo, as was the case in a February 22 submission through the National Economic Development Authority.
The cdodev. com reports on Panguil Bay Bridge also contained very nice concept photos. The cdodev. com blog is a “guide” for constructions, proposals and investments in Cagayan de Oro and its surroundings.
A July 2017 report even showed a photo of a billboard in the city of Tangub that appears where the bridge will be built.
On request, DPWH Unified Project Management Module II also sent Rappler the real Panguil Bay Bridge (see below).
Rappler also asked for an explanation of why Site Build, Build, Build used the incheon bridge mirror symbol in his announcement about the project. We have not yet won an award at the time of publication. – Miguel Imperial / Rappler. com
