After falling into a deep void of all things Japanese, I stopped watching Tokyo Vice and continued with a week of unique Japanese cuisine (I highly recommend Onigiri and Oyakodon, if you’ve never tried either), I have the idea to introduce you to the Oto Hime today. . .
I’m ready for new podcasts and came across this first one on the podcast label Were You Raised by Wolves?.
Japanese culture is full of extravagances and quirks, but none is like the Oto Hime. Also known as the “princess of Japanese sound”, it is a standalone device or function integrated into a Japanese toilet that emits a sound when activated, to camouflage the activity. internal noises from the toilet, thus protecting your modesty. Sound levels range from a song to a soothing melody or even the sounds of a continuous download.
Pretty weird, huh?
See you for a Google I/O update!
