CRISTIANO RONALDO will miss Manchester United’s final game of the season due to injury.
The Portugal foreigner has been United’s most prolific player this season, despite recently turning 37.
But the club legend will miss the Red Devils’ final game of the season at Crystal Palace.
That’s according to The Athletic, which claims a hip flexion challenged the Portuguese in Sunday’s match at Selhurst Park.
Ronaldo, a seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, has struggled to stay in the most sensible form this season, with hip flexor problems.
But the upheavals of his injuries haven’t stopped him from placing the back of the net 24 times in 39 appearances this season.
Ronaldo joined United from Juventus last summer, signing a two-year contract for his time at Old Trafford.
SunSport, however, understands that the superstar had conversations with agent Jorge Mendes about leaving the club earlier this year.
But judging by his Instagram post, the former Real Madrid player looks set to see the rest of his contract at the Teatro de los Sueños.
Ahead of United’s 3-0 win over Brentford, he wrote: “Let’s take this opportunity from our last game of the season at Old Trafford to thank our supporters, who have endured a difficult season with us and have never abandoned us. “
“Thank you guys.
“You mean the world to us and our purpose is to get bigger every day, so we can achieve what we all want: Glory to Man. United!”
It’s unclear what role, if any, United’s new manager Erik ten Hag sees for Ronaldo’s season.
The Dutchman, who is expected to update interim coach Ralf Rangnick, recently recalled a brief verbal exchange he had with Ronaldo Ajax in the 2019 Champions League quarter-finals with Juventus.
He told Ajax TV: “It’s an engaging conversation. “I think I might appreciate the way we played.
“He’s a real winner and a great player. I hope to race with him. “
Asked about the topic of the conversation, the Dutchman added: “I think it was a resolution made through the referee who went our way. I made a joke about it. “
