“Humanity will be tested in those games once again,” Hwang told Vanity Fair about what awaits us for the life-and-death series, revealing that Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) is shown to be returning.

Hwang added that the elusive Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who oversees the games, will play a bigger role in the season. Overall, Season 2 aims to “ask the question, ‘Is true human-to-human solidarity possible?’

“Squid Game” marked the largest series release ever made for Netflix and the first Korean series to be No. 1 in Netflix’s top 10 titles in the United States. now a leading Emmy nominee.

Netflix’s head of global television, Bela Bajaria, gave an update on Season 2 in October 2021, mentioning that Hwang is running on a movie (he’s leading the “controversial” “Killing Old People” project) and will likely bring more writers for the time being “Squid Game” season.

Hwang had told IndieWire in the past that he was “getting a lot of pressure” on the “Squid Game” sequel.

“I still have the story of Front Man and his relationship with his brother, the policeman. And other people are also curious to know where Gi-hun is ultimately headed because he is moving away from the plane,” Hwang wrote. I think I have a legal responsibility to enthusiasts and I’m thinking about Season 2, but at the time I was so tired after completing Season 1 that I couldn’t think about Season 2. But now that it’s become such good fortune, other people would hate me if I didn’t do Season 2, so I feel a lot of tension and I think I deserve to do it. The wonderful good fortune of Season 1 is a wonderful compliment to me, but at the same time, it puts a lot of strain on me.

And, Hwang is also already season 3.

“Squid Game” was originally meant to be a movie and had been in the works for more than 10 years after Hwang wrote the script in 2009. Hwang brought “Squid Game” as a movie to Netflix after the broadcaster announced in South Korea in 2016. The author once told IndieWire that the concept was “unrealistic at the time” because it was “too rare” and would not be a good monetary fortune as a film. The nine-episode series premiered on Netflix in September 2021.

Meanwhile, star Lee Jung-jae will make her directorial debut at Cannes this year with the spy mystery “Hunt. “
