Construction of the Wendy apartment will open this fall in the former Wendy’s restaurant.

The next apartment building in the former Wendy’s courthouse is called (wait for it) The Wendy.

The 231-unit building, whose work began in late 2022, is expected to open this fall, according to signage.

News of the development’s name, posted on X via Fox Five host Steve Chenevey, sparked a lukewarm reaction from the social media fast-food chain of the same name.

The building’s online page advertises “minimalist, herbaceous interiors” with floor-to-ceiling windows in studios and three-bedroom apartments. The site at 2025 Clarendon Boulevard, about a block from the Courthouse subway station, is in the midst of advertising activity.

“Here citizens find a place to breathe while maintaining their active lifestyle,” he says.

The site sat vacant for years after structures crews demolished the Wendy’s Bank and a Wells Fargo bank. The original developer, Carr Properties, intended to build a 12-story structure on the site, but failed to find a tenant.

The county gave the green light to the existing allocation in early 2022.

Wendy is particularly taller than the maximum height of 10 stories according to the Rosslyn Urban Design Studio to the Courthouse. Developer Greystar Real Estate Partners has secured six more floors by moving certain progression rights to the court-area residential complex, Wakefield Manor.
