Development activity continues for Amazon’s long-term fulfillment center at Broome Corporate Park in the city of Conklin.
Construction crews have been busy on Carlin Road for the past few weeks.
Amazon is renting nearly 66,000 square feet at Matthew Bender’s former fulfillment center, which hired more than a hundred people before it closed.
County and city officials approved the assignment last spring. The facility would use a component from a giant warehouse existing on site.
City supervisor William Dumian, Amazon had “acted quickly” on the arrangements for the fulfillment center.
Dumian said Amazon first indicated that it was targeting a final touch date of the assignment in mid-November. Company officials may not be contacted to find out when the facility deserves to be operational.
Amazon has published task posts online for Conklin’s site, adding operations managers and engineers. It’s unclear how many other people want to be hired for the distribution center.
