The USCB says the 2026 Census verification will evaluate the feasibility of inventions and innovations planned for the 2030 Census, with a specific focus on enumerating hard-to-count and traditionally undercounted populations.
The Census Bureau plans to conduct the 2026 census in six locations:
“These locations provide us with optimal opportunities to implement all the adjustments and innovations we have planned for monitoring, in real-world situations and on a larger scale than the simulation studies allow,” said Daniel Doyle, deputy leader of the Census. Bureau’s Decennial Census Management Division. . . « Together, these sites will allow us to test the innovations we are designing as part of our efforts to obtain a complete count of traditionally undercounted and hard-to-count populations. »
The 2026 census verification will be carried out in six operational areas.
The USCB says the sites selected canopy spaces with a higher percentage of traditionally underappreciated populations.
