NEW YORK (AP) – Gerrit Cole claimed his 20th consecutive regular-season victory by placing the sixth pitcher to succeed on the mark by pitching seven straight innings to take the New York Yankees to the Boston Red Sox 10-3 on Friday night.
Cole (4-0) allowed one run and 4 hits. He got eight, didn’t walk and pitched 95 pitches.
Cole’s loss since May 2019 came here in the first game of the World Series last year, when he pitched for Houston and lost to Washington.
The Yankees took a step forward to 7-0 at home for the fourth time since 1959 (in 2017, 1998 and 1987). New York beat Boston for the seventh time in a row.
Gary Sanchez had the consecutive game moment and Gleyber Torres added 4 hits, adding a double of two runs in the third. Mike Tauchman drove four runs and in the right area for Aaron Judge, who landed on the disabled list with a slight strain on his right calf. Clint Frazier also had a two-run double in the eighth.
DJ LeMahieu had two other hits and finished the night with an average of Array429. It’s his 69th multi-shot game as Yankee and eighth this season.
Alex Verdugo scored for Boston, who lost his fifth straight to drop at 6-14. The Red Sox also lost to the Yankees for the 12th time in the last thirteen games since July 28, 2019.
Rafael Devers connected an rbid career without marrying in Jonathan Holder’s eighth.
Boston used Colten Brewer (0-1) as a start and allowed two runs and 4 hits in 2 2/3 innings.
MARLINS 8, BRAVE 2
MIAMI (AP) – Jesús Aguilar pushed 3 points, Jon Berti stole the house and Miami, leader of the National League East Division, won his long-awaited opening match and delayed by coronavirus, beating Atlanta.
Miami returned to Marlins Park after a 23-day road trip, interrupted when 18 players and two coaches tested for the virus.
Pablo Lopez (2-1) allowed two runs, seven hits and dropped a career-high 8 in six counterfeit innings. The Marlins took a step forward at 9-4.
A touch of Magneuris Sierra scored Eddy Alvarez from third in the room to give Miami a 3-2 lead. Berti added running to the entrance, flying home in front of a double robbery.
Travis d’Arnaud did a solo career in Atlanta first. Kyle Wright (0-3) charged with defeat.
PHILLIES 6, METS 5
PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Bryce Harper’s RBI singles on the back of the ninth inning gave Philadelphia a win over New York.
Roman Quinn started the entry with a bachelor about Seth Lugo (1-2), and Andrew McCutchen followed him with a bachelor. After Rhys Hoskins removed, Harper snatched a 0-2 draw from the right. Quinn slid headfirst into the pitch of Michael Conforto. The Phillies had to wait for a video review to verify it before celebrating with air-five.
J.t. Realmuto hit a three-run home run, but Hector Neris (1-0) could not have a career advantage in the ninth. He allowed a bachelor and a ride before cutting Pete Alonso and Dominic Smith. Robinson Cano followed up with a single RBI to tie 5.
Phillies’ starter Spencer Howard lasted only 3 0.33 innings, allowing four runs, three earned runs, and seven hits. Turns out he left because of a soft light bulb on his finger.
Walker Lockett began after two-time National League Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom scratched due to a tension in his neck. He allowed five runs and seven hits in six innings.
BLUE JAYS 12, RAYS 4
BUFFALO, New York (AP) – Teoscar Hernandez hit two of Toronto’s six home races, Bo Bichette connected for the fourth consecutive game and the Blue Jays beat Tampa Bay.
In addition to their seven home runs in the 14-11 loss to Miami on Wednesday night at Sahlen Field, Toronto is the fourth team in primary league history to connect at least six home runs in consecutive games. The Blue Jays joined the Dodgers (1996), Angels (2003) and Washington (2012).
Randal Grichuk tied the game in the sixth, Bichette added a three-run practice and Hernandez connected to finish the five-run inning that put him 8-4.
Rowdy Tellez and Cavan Biggio played for the Blue Jays.
Brandon Lowe hit a house run and pitched three points for Tampa Bay, which had a six-game streak.
Toronto reliever Wilmer Font (1-1) faced a batter, prompting a double player in the early sixth to secure victory. Ryan Thompson (1-1) carried the loss.
REDS 8, PIRATES 1
CINCINNATI (AP) – Jesse Winker hit the first home run of two career runs and Sonny Gray continued his torrid breakout speed when Cincinnati opened a tight game with five runs in the last two innings in a win over Pittsburgh.
Nick Castellanos added a three-run home run to Chris Stratton in Cincinnati’s seventh in four runs.
Gray (4-1) retired 10, bringing his overall season to 45, a franchise record for a pitcher’s first appearances. Luis Castillo set the last mark of 41 in 2019. Gray allowed hits and a run, Bryan Reynolds’ first home run and the first run of the season, with a 6-2-3 ball base.
Chad Kuhl (0-1), who allowed 4 hits and three runs with one base per ball and six strikeouts in innings.
ORIOLES 6, NATIONAL 2, Game 1
BALTIMORE (AP) – Baltimore finished what had begun, beating Washington in a game suspended five days earlier due to a tarp malfunction in the ballpark, extending its winning streak to six games.
Baltimore led 5-2 in the sixth Sunday lead at Nationals Park when the rain stopped the game. The box equipment was unable to remove a tangled tarm in time to prevent the inbox from being played.
When the game resumed, the Orioles had two in the sixth and one in the sixth. Holaday handed over a bachelor with a 6-2 to go, giving him two RBIs in the game.
Before Sunday’s rain, Baltimore had two RBIs from Hanser Alberto and Anthony Santander in a fifth of five points against Stephen Strasburg (0-1).
Travis Lakins (2-0) earned the win by withdrawing the batter he faced to finish the fourth inning.

DETROIT (AP) – Franmil Reyes hit a house run and towed three, and Cleveland beat Detroit for the 18th consecutive time, the club’s record.
The Indian’s longest winning streak in the past opposed an opponent on a 17-game streak against the Baltimore Orioles in 1954.

DENVER (AP) – Lance Lynn allowed two hits in the first inning in his first full game in six years, Nick Solak hit his first home run of the season and Texas beat Colorado.
Lynn (3-0) allowed singles in the first two batters she faced and Garrett Hampson scored from third place on the pitch for Nolan Arenado. Two Texas mistakes in the sixth led to an undeserved run for Colorado.
Lynn deployed six, connected eighth before the final of her first full game since September 11, 2014 in Cincinnati. He lowered his era to 1.11.
Daniel Bard (1-1) carried the defeat. Colorado opener Ryan Castellani pitched four 2/3 innings at the time of his career. He allowed two hits, either Solak, and stoked seven, connecting the first and third innings.
BREWERS 4, CUBES 3
CHICAGO (AP) – Christian Yelich hit a three-run home run and Milwaukee beat the primary league leaders, Chicago.
Yelich hit his fifth home run of the season against Alec Mills (2-1) in Center Right Field, erasing Chicago’s 3-1 lead in the sixth inning.
Milwaukee’s first reliever, Freddy Peralta (1-1), pitched two blank innings and struck out five.
Brewers closer Josh Hader received his fourth save.
Rizzo, Jason Kipnis and Ian Happ had RBIs for the Cubs, who lost at the moment in 11 games. Chicago fell to 13-4 when Cubs hit 15 batters as opposed to four pitchers.
Milwaukee ended a two-game losing streak and won for the third time in eight attempts.
