Global spending on cloud infrastructure construction increased to $41. 8 billion in the first quarter of 2021, an accumulation of 35% year-on-year (year-over-year) and 5% quarter-on-quarter (quarterly).
The figures, published through the studios and analysis company Canalys, largely adhere to the “three large” public cloud corporations that publish their quarterly profit data. Amazon revealed that its AWS cloud drive had higher revenue by 32%, a much faster rate than many analysts. had predicted, while microsoft’s “commercial cloud” and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) also reported accelerated growth. However, it is difficult to compare those figures, as Microsoft and Google mix their respective cloud-based software (i. e. Office and Google Worksspeed) with their server infrastructure for quarterly earnings reports.
Canalys defines “cloud infrastructure” as corporations that provide infrastructure as a service and platform as a service. While excluding direct software-as-a-service (SaaS) spending, it includes revenue generated through the infrastructure used to function.
At 32%, AWS continues to lead the package in terms of spending on public cloud infrastructure services, followed by Microsoft Azure at 19% and Google Cloud at 7%.
It should be noted that the first quarter of 2021 was the first time spending on cloud infrastructure installations surpassed the $40 billion mark in a given quarter, and spending in real terms expanded to nearly $11 billion compared to it was last year. The main driving force of the first quarter, as with each and every quarter last year, was the immediate pandemic-driven virtual transformation that spans the structure industries to local offline restaurants. In addition, remote paintings have played a key role in accelerating requesting installations in the space of collaboration and communication in the cloud.
Last week, Gartner predicted that public cloud spending on the way to succeed at $332 billion in 2021, 23. 1 percent more than last year’s $270 billion.
