Chrome for Android may soon gain advantages from a new password control option that will make it much easier to manage your connections.
Using the Internet means building a massive collection of passwords, because you don’t use it everywhere, right?
To avoid the threat of being locked in an account because you have forgotten your credentials, it makes sense to use a password manager to buy them all securely, or you can let your browser take care of it.
Chrome has long introduced the ability to complete usernames and passwords for you, and the Android edition of the browser is online for an update in this area. A new option is being tested, first through Techdows, and can be accessed by activating an optional indicator in the cellular edition.
The new feature is titled “Complete passwords from any source”. This call is very useful, which is why Google gives the following description: “Activating this indicator adds a button to the password replacement sheet. The button opens another sheet that allows you to enter a password from any source – Android. “
Chromium’s error tracker reiterates that the new feature will allow users to provide the password from any source and emphasizes that it will be available on the keyboard.
It is also a very enlightening description (it does not specify what developers mean by ‘source’), and since the function does not seem to be active yet, we can only guess its precise purpose.
This could provide a way to update password synchronization on one device so that you can use an updated password that you used on another device; However, that’s just speculation, and we’ll have to keep an eye out for how things are changing.
As we said, the feature does not seem to be active, however, you can temporarily check and monitor the settings by installing Chrome Canary for Android and following those instructions:
Now, stop at a site’s sign-in page, tap the username field, and choose an account to sign in to. Tap the password field, then swipe the password bar until you see the key icon. Press it, then scroll down and see the new “Use another password” option.
At the moment, it’s unclear when the feature will reach the solid edition of Chrome for Android, or even if it will. We also don’t know for sure if the feature will succeed in the Android edition of Chrome, so we’ll have to wait and see.
