The Montana Supreme Court recently awarded Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen two victories by overturning a district judge’s ruling to block new approval from the Montana legislature.
KGVO News spoke Thursday morning with Missoula County Election Administrator Bradley Seaman about the court’s actions.
“The (Montana) Supreme Court recently issued rulings endorsing legislation passed by the 2021 legislature,” Seaman began. There is an express circumstance in which you can move from one county district to another, but the most productive way to make sure you vote is to go online today, check www. my vote page mt. com and check your registration status. “
Seaman addressed the resolution of the moment through the Montana Supreme Court.
“The other resolution was about identification documents at the electoral college,” he said. “This means that each and every voter will have to show a photo ID. If it is not one of the six express pieces of identity indexed by the Secretary of State, supporting documents will also be required. A smart example here in Missoula County is that if you only have your Costco card, you want supporting documents like a bank statement, or a government document that was issued to you or a pay stub, then the entire electorate upon arriving at a polling place will be asked to show a photo ID.
Seaman was glad his workplace had thought about either failure in preparation for Election Day.
“We’re still striving to make sure other people are aware, so in our recent commands it’s been indicated that this is the subject of a legal challenge and touching our workplace to make sure you can vote,” he said. I’m glad I had the foresight to come with this in our orders, so now we know precisely where we’re going to stand for June, going through this election, and then the courts will have the opportunity to hear those cases, the merits of the claims, and then make sure we have a transparent resolution for the next election in November.
Seaman reminded the KGVO that this is the first genuine election at a polling station in about 4 years, so many will have to go to their polling stations to vote on Election Day.
“The biggest query we’ve won recently is ‘where’s my poll’?” he said. You can check the www. ma mt. com voters page to check if you are a polling station voter or a mail-in voter, however, those of you who have not won a poll will have to move to this online page and check your polling place for Election Day. “
