The Chargers finished with a 10-7 record in AFC West last year and will aim for an even better season this year. Based on the past two seasons, head coach Brandon Staley hasn’t played with team starters, so don’t worry. waiting to see quarterback Justin Herbert or defensive stars like Khalil Mack.
Instead, beware of recruited and unrecruited recruits. Young chargers to watch out for this preseason include: Daiyan Henley, Quentin Johnston and Tuli Tuipulotu.
When asked what he would seek to see for his team during his 3 preseason games, Staley was succinct and his answer was: “Attack. Every time you play live for the first time, it’s always whatever you’re going through. “to see what to focus on,” Staley said. Operationally, making sure we are as blank as possible in all 3 phases. You’re doing something for the first time, some of those rookies have never played in an NFL game. There are a lot of other people on the sidelines Just making sure that we’re organized, that we’re giving those guys a blank game plan so they can get through, execute and we can compare them.
On the other hand, the Rams are taking another technique for preseason this year after a disappointing 2022 season that saw the team finish with a 5-12 record. That’s the worst mark of head coach Sean McVay’s career, and as a result, the Rams coach says his preseason technique will be a little different: The team’s starters will play accordingly.
“It’s going to be very different from what you’re used to. We haven’t made a precise decision yet, but we have to prepare the guys to leave. There are a lot of players on this team who haven’t even had the opportunity to dress up, to play a genuine version of football,” McVay said, adding: “The guys who have been great contributors who have played a lot of clichés, we’re going to lean towards being wise with them. But for the maximum part, there will be a lot of guys who will play and very few guys who won’t play.
Young players to watch out for the Rams include: offensive lineman Steve Avila, wide receiver Puca Nacua, running back Zach Evans and defensive shot Earnest Brown IV.
This game will also be a spectacle for rookie quarterbacks on both sides. Chargers rookie goalkeeper Max Duggan and Rams rookie Stetson Bennett will see their first NFL action. TCU and Georgia, respectively, so it will be to see how they fare in their first preseason game.
