West Columbia, South Carolina, May 25, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — As part of a cooking challenge designed to motivate students to create and adopt healthier eating habits, Chandler Dorn, a fifth grader at the Lexington School District Two in West Columbia , South Carolina, chosen as the national winner of the 2022 Sodexo 11th Annual Future Chefs Challenge. The theme of this year’s festival is a dish from the favorite e-book or movie of students, made healthier. Dorn won this festival with his signature dish, “Snow White and the Seven Layered Trifle”. “The COVID-19 pandemic has put Sodexo’s 11th Annual Future Chefs Challenge on hold in 2021,” said Stephen Dunmore, executive director of Sodexo North America Schools. “This year, it is exciting to be able to take on this challenge again, allowing scholars from across the country to showcase their creativity and skills in culinary excellence. Congratulations to Chandler and our regional winners, on a strong comeback from the Sodexo Future Chefs Challenge. This year, more than 1,000 scholars from 85 school districts in 22 states participated in this year’s challenge. A panel of judges reviewed the recipes and scored them based on originality, health attributes, ease of preparation, ease of use for children, and dish presentation. In addition to winning a pill, scooter and helmet, Dorn’s winning recipe will appear on Sodexo elementary school menus in fall 2022 and spring 2023. Regional winners include:
