PHOENIX: Electronics retailer Best Buy has announced plans to open a factory store in Phoenix later this year.
The company said the store, which is near the demolished Paradise Valley Mall, will become a retail outlet, one of 4 new sites spread across the country.
Best Buy said the new locations would open in the summer and fall and that online shoppers would also have discounted products.
The 48th Street and Paradise Village Parkway store will offer open-box and clearance items, as well as discounted laptops, tablets, gaming devices and cell phones.
“These outlets unlock price by lightening the area and capacity of our flagship stores, and are a vital component of our circular economy strategy by offering a moment-long opportunity for products to be resold rather than end up in landfill,” Damien Harmon, executive, Best Buy’s vice president said on an investor call in March.
He added that the outlets have helped the chain attract new consumers or re-engage previous buyers.
Geek Squad will be available to offer the technical fix. The store will also offer same-day delivery.
Best Buy has 16 and plans to double that number over the next year. Phoenix joins Chicago, Houston and Manassas, Virginia, on the list announced last week.
