The effects are equally spectacular. To honor those efforts, the iPhone Photography Awards were born in 2007 and have since selected award-winning images each year.Apple also encouraged iPhone photographers to share their most productive paintings for the Shot on iPhone challenge.
As you can imagine, the photographs sent to those two contests are simply fantastic.We’ve reviewed them to give you a collection of our favorite photos taken in recent years.Amazing photographs you probably wouldn’t have taken with a smartphone.

This photograph of Robin Robertis was taken and sent to the PPI Awards in 2016 and the judges were so inspired that they chose him as the winner of the position at the time in the Photographer of the Year category.
“Me in an iPhone workshop and in a meeting with a friend and an instructor on Cape Cod.We all went out to photograph the best sunset. I have a tendency to wear some pieces when I travel, one of them is this beautiful red umbrella.When others photograph sunsets and charming landscapes, I like to photograph certain human facets in those scenes.”
This amazing take of wavy golden fields was captured through Robert Glaser of Germany with his Apple iPhone 7.He was selected as one of the winners of the Shot on iPhone Challenge and Judge Kaiann Drance said: “Great dynamic range.There are main points in the total image. In the meadow, the trees and the clouds.Beautiful deep sky and lovely colors in general.”
Brendan O He took this close-up photo of the dirty hands of a docker on an iPhone 6s in 2016.In 2017, the symbol was presented to the IPPA Awards and was decided as the winner of the first position: the seer crowned as Photographer of the Year.
“I took this photo of a morning photo tour of Jakarta’s docks in April 2016.They were the hands of a stevedore who was taking a break.I was struck by the texture created through the dirt accumulated in his hands.”
LieAdi Darmawan captured this photo with an iPhone Xs and sent it to the iPhone Shot Challenge to be selected as one of the winners.
He how this happened:
“This photo was taken on my last backpacking vacation in the San Juan National Forest, Colorado.In my nightly hour of hiking in the Colorado desert, I made the decision to walk along the ridge right next to the Ulysses S peak.Grant to take a photo at sunset (just after a nap).The Ulysses S.Grant peak itself is about 13,767 feet, so it was only a few feet down!I’m not sure what to expect when the temperature started to drop and the sunlight started. He was the only one up there, where some others had come down and left Boy, he was happy to stay there long enough to see the clouds and the irregular peaks began to burn the golden hour – it was such an un secular experience!Descending into darkness, provided only with a lighthouse, n’ was not a simple task.I fell several times as I walked painfully through steep sandy terrain.I even lost my camp through a few hundred yards.But looking back was worth it.”
The festival judges were also inspired and it is undeniable that this is a sight.
The winner of the moment position in the Photographer of the Year category at the 2017 iPhone Photography Awards arrived from Singapore with this symbol captured an Apple iPhone 6 Plus.A street artist takes a brief break after performing:
“Traditional Chinese street opera is a component of Chinese culture.Unfortunately, Singapore’s younger generation is no longer interested.As a result, the street opera temporarily disappears. Huapeng Zhao took this symbol in YanTai ShanDong province, China, his iPhone 6, we see a child with a small fish in his eye, the black and white end of this symbol adds a sullen atmosphere that we love, the judges did the same, since this photo was chosen as the prize of the moment for the photographer of the year 2018 in the iPhone And Awards.
“I met this boy as he walked by the sea. When I searched to take a picture of him, he put the fish that had stuck in front of his eyes.
iPhone art director and photographer Andrew Griswold took this photo with his iPhone XS and said he encouraged it through the 2018 film Green Book starring Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali.The symbol was decided as one of the winners of the Shot on iPhone Challenge and only Sébastien Marineau-Mes commented:
“A very exclusive composition and color palette, betting on the strengths of the iPhone XS.What I find most attractive is the background pattern, expanded and deformed exclusively in water droplets.I have to examine and check to figure out what this style is.”
In 2014, Michael O’Neal took this brilliant photo of a cheeky fox in the snowy landscape of San Francisco.The symbol was selected as the first winner in the animal category of the iPhone Photography Awards.It’s simple to see why it’s fantastic.
Another winner of the Shot on iPhone Challenge shows Elizabeth Scarrott’s daughter surrounded by the good looks of nature.Taken in Yosemite National Park and captured on the iPhone 8 Plus, this symbol is brilliantly perched and we love the curious look etched on the child’s face.
Judge Brooks Kraft commented: “A portrait that captures the wonder of childhood in a charming setting.Excellent composition that shows both the personality of the child and the delight of the environment”.
From the South African coast, this photo of a boy’s family circle and his two children waded into the waters, a shining symbol of family circle life taken with an iPhone.
IPhone photographer Dina Alfasi from Israel captured this strangely glorious photo with an iPhone X.A brilliant replacement for the attitude that hurts our heads but is beautiful
Judge Brooks Kraft said: “An exclusive attitude and a fresh take on the popular subject of film reflections. I like that the subject is obvious, but you don’t know how the photo was taken. The water is heart-shaped, with great symmetry of the subject. The intensity of the iPhone case in general mode made this symbol possible, a DSLR would have had trouble keeping everything in focus. “
We all love to enjoy a delicious meal. Food lovers are the only ones who take a smart photo of a meal and post it on Instagram.Sofija Strindlund captured this photo and sent it to IPPAAWARDS, where it was decided by the third place in the food category in 2014.

The grand prize winner of the 2019 iPhone Photography Awards was Gabriella Cigliano from Italy with her “Big Sister” photo. Shot in Zanzibar, Tanzania, with an iPhone X. A beautifully framed view of a mosque showing an incredible symbol reflected from the view to come. This symbol was taken on an iPhone 7 and gained a momently position in the architecture category of the iPhone Photography Awards in 2018.
