Bergen County Suspends Cell Coronavirus Truck for Rest of Summer

Bergen County will end its cell verification program, which brought a COVID-19 verification facility and antibodies to cities via trucks while the state experienced the worst of the coronavirus pandemic.

“In recent weeks, the numbers have dropped and right now, even if the curve is flat, we’ll see how we do it and if there’s a raise, we’ll relocate,” said county spokesman Derek Sands.

Initial plans for the cell site were expected to last until July, and the truck visited each and every county town for two that refused service, Sands said.

“We will give a respite to all who have done this day after day in the exhausting heat,” he added.

But the county expects citizens to continue at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center and Pharmacies.

Once cellular verification completes its last two days earlier in the next week, the county will release “a snapshot” of the total number of checks as well as positivity rates.
