My OnePlus 7 Pro for almost a year can run almost any app you start, and games with the main symbol frequencies are on your 90 Hz screen. But it’s been months since I played more than the Sudoku game to kill time and wait for racing.
All that replaced when I won the new ASUS ROG 3 gaming phone to review. To be honest, it’s usually about two things: the AirTriggers and the speakers. If you are buying a new phone this year and like games, I recommend this solution.
Yes, there are other features and you can get similar functionality from a variety of phones on those days. But ASUS has tricked ROG 3 with lots of smart features to dramatically improve your gaming experience, and I’ll miss this phone when I get back.
I chose not to stick to the same exam direction with ROG 3 for an important reason: it’s too big and too heavy for me to use as a driver. It’s bigger than the OnePlus 7 Pro, with frames above and below the screen, and it’s also thicker and heavier than top phones lately at 240g.
But you’re a big game enthusiast and you agree with a larger device for a greater entertainment experience. I sense this, and I appreciate the idea of ASUS more now that I’ve had the chance to watch a lot of games optimized for higher symbol frequencies.
As anyone who would expect to follow the gaming phone scene, the ROG 3 is a true telephone beast, with a high-end Octa Snapdragon 865-5G processor combined with an Adreno 650 GPU, 8GB RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. There is also a 6.59-inch AMOLED Full HD demo that supports a 144Hz refresh rate and 10 HDR, as well as a massive 6,000 mAh 30W fast charging battery for the fragmentation festival to continue the day.
There’s a lot I like here. The screen becomes very bright, so you can play outdoor games in broad daylight. It is also ideal for titles that exceed frame rates, allowing for elegant animations and actions.
To test ROG 3, I’ve played several games from this list of the best refresh rate games organized through Android Police, adding Gear.Club True Racing, ARK: Survival Evolved, Alto’s Odyssey, Assassin’s Creed Rebellion, Bendy in Nightmare Corre, Badland Brawl, Oddmar and Into the Dead 2.
Racing and action games are faster and the visuals of strategy and puzzle games demonstrate smoother animations. In fact, the difference is noticeable when transferring from a 60 Hz general screen and the maximum frame rate is lost when transferring from ROG 3.
ASUS X mode activates when you launch games and seamlessly disables notifications, saves the game, turns on a traditional sight for FPS games, and improves functionality for non-easy titles.
My favorite feature, however, are ASUS AirTriggers, which are necessarily sensitive problems with ultrasonic tension in the look of the phone that you can press instead of touching the buttons on the screen. They have also given the impression of previous ROG ITerations, but this time they have a diversity of gestures, adding agitation, pounding and sliding. You can also split the duration of each AirTrigger in half, giving a total of 4 “physical” yettons.
In fact, these buttons made it more fun to dive back into the games I used to love: I mapped one to cause a spiced nitro in Asphalt 9: Legends, another to see my weapon in Call of Duty: Mobile, and the two causes for virtual game controller buttons in Streets of Rage 2 Classic. Between haptic comments and the ease of touching AirTriggers instead of the right messages on the screen, it’s a way to play.
ROG 3 also sounds great, thanks to the front stereo speakers that are very loud and do not lock with the hands at maximum speakers down. I wouldn’t pay attention to the music in them, but I would be happy to play for hours without wishing to have headphones at your fingertips.
Another key considered is the USB-C port on the left side of the device, so you can force it with an evaluator who has a cable on the way while playing. It supports fast charging and direct force mode, which means it will only force the battery charge cycles of the phone hardware.
A Rs. 49,999 ($668), ROG 3 is not cheap; It is also far from lightweight, compact or superbly designed in the classic sense, and there are many phones with larger cameras at this value and at a lower value. Then it’s not for everyone.
But if you like games and find yourself spending several hours in front of a cell phone screen, this is a wonderful way to do it. Between the 144 Hz display, inventive AirTriggers and rugged sound and performance, the ROG 3 offers a particularly wonderful gaming experience than the most popular phones, adding those with comparable specifications.
ASUS is also about to release an even tougher edition for some reason, with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of built-in storage, at an Rs price. 57,999 ($775). It also manufactures plenty of stylish accessories, adding a cooler that unlocks an additional superior functionality mode.
Overall, this is a commendable effort to go beyond devices and makes it an attractive selection for players in the pass.
