09/04 Update below. This article was originally published on September 1.
Clearly, Apple’s iPhone 12 line may not be to everyone’s liking, but now we know what will make everyone talk.
White, Apple’s mysterious (but still reliable) filterer, has revealed a couple of instances of iPhone 12 Pro that throw a giant key into the works: one shows the configuration of an iPhone 12 Pro triple camera and highlights the position of the exciting Apple new LiDAR sensor, the other shows the same cameras but without the LiDAR sensor , and this can have costly consequences for renovators.
03/09 update: As doubts about the inclusion of a LiDAR sensor increase in at least one of this year’s two iPhone 12 Pro models, Digitimes revealed that primary updates were being developed for the iPhone camera. The site explains that Apple plans to integrate liquid crystal polymer (LCP) into iPhone camera modules, which will particularly speed up the transmission of high-resolution photos.”Knowledge of the images will become increasingly confusing in the 5G era and a high-speed transmission will be needed to allow high-resolution photography in AR applications and live streaming,” explains the site.Apple is already adopting LCP-integrated mmWave 5G antennas on its iPhone 12 Pro models, but it’s unclear whether advanced camera modules stopped on this year’s devices. As much as possible.
Update 09/04: the plot thickens. Concept Creator, a leading generation rendering artist, has now hit the latest iPhone 12 Pro instances from popular accessory maker Pitaka, and the LiDAR sensor is missing from the packaging This matches Mr’s iPhone 12 Pro case White (pictured below) and suggests that the sensor failed to cut out on at least one of the two new iPhone 12 Pro models. This creates an upgrade dilemma for iPhone enthusiasts who, after a two-generation hiatus , they may again be limited by the bigger, more expensive iPhone to get all the new features. Expect a strong public outcry, if that’s what Apple has decided.
For several weeks now, reports have been gathering that Apple can only install the LiDAR sensor on the largest (and most expensive) iPhone 12 Pro Max, a move that recalls Apple’s past (he didn’t like) strategy of reserving the most productive features (at the time), two cameras) for larger and more expensive iPhone Plus models.Apple abandoned this with the iPhone XS and iPhone 11 ranges, but has the company changed again?
Is there an explanation? Yes, but you may not like it anymore, and that’s just like your 120Hz ProMotion displays, the inclusion of LiDAR is in play, and Apple sends any of the models so that instance brands can be prepared.all-or-nothing scenario.
My not-limited feeling is that LiDAR is a must if Apple wants to see that Pro models have significant traction in sales. With the new and smaller iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Plus moving to dual cameras, thinner bezels and OLED displays, LiDAR offers the most compelling explanation of why to remain Pro.That said, Apple is reportedly trimming orders for iPhone 12 Pro models up to a maximum of 50%, which doesn’t seem good.
With Apple also about to remove the charger (20W improved) and EarPods from the box, decrease battery capacity and increase demand value, industry discussions about a new “supercycle” promoted by the iPhone seem unwelcome in the existing climate. The new designs in the diversity of the iPhone 12 look great, are powerful and, in the age of valuable 5G-driven constructions, will be more affordable than major competitors.
Apple’s playing, but that’s enough.
