Apple has shared the first major points about iOS 18 user adoption so far. The corporate claims that iOS 18 is recently installed on 68% of all iPhones and 76% of iPhones brought beyond 4 years.
These numbers show that the adoption of iOS 18 is in the same trajectory as the adoption of iOS 17 last year.
These numbers are measured by the devices that transacted on the App Store on January 21, 2025. The information was published on Apple’s Developer website today.

iOS 18 is aided by the same iPhone models as iOS 17, which dates back to the iPhone XS that was released in 2018. Apple’s long-term support for iPhone models ensures that users have access to as many new features as possible with vital security innovations and bug fixes.
In recent years, Apple has also made it easier for users to rather stay on their existing edition of iOS if they are not completely able to upgrade to the next primary edition. For example, when Apple released iOS 18 in September, it also released iOS 17. 7. iPhone users have had the choice between updating to iOS 18 to access all the new features of the update or updating to iOS 17. 7. If users have selected to upgrade to iOS 17. 7, they can avoid any prospective bugs that accompany a new primary edition of iOS while getting all the vital security fixes and other improvements.
More recently, Apple released iOS 17. 7. 2 and iPados 17. 7. 2 in November with significant security fixes. Once again, this ensures that users get the most enjoyment imaginable even if they decided not to upgrade to iOS 18.
Have you updated your iPhone to iOS 18 or is there a particular reason you’re still holding out? Let us know down in the comments.
