Apple brings back the iPhone 15 Pro for the first time, at a reduced price

Reposted on January 14 with more highlights on where the refurbished iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are available and for how much, likely adding costs in the US when they become available.

While Apple’s old iPhones stay in the line for several years, if you need the Pro, you have to buy it within 12 months of launch, and then it’s gone. However, Apple has just introduced the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, in certain countries, on its refurbished site, at lower prices. What does this mean for countries that haven’t yet noticed it’s back on sale and at what price?

Right now, those countries don’t include the U.S. or the U.K., but the refurbished 15 Pro models are available from several of Apple’s online stores, including in Spain, Germany, France, Italy and Switzerland.

On the Spanish site, for instance, the iPhone 15 Pro in titanium black with 128GB storage is available for 949€ ($971), saving 170€ compared to the original 1,119€ sticker price. As is common with Apple’s refurbished products, not all colors are available, and in this case it’s just the black model. The storage options with 256GB and 512GB are also back, in black, for 1,059€, saving 190€, and 1,269€, saving 230€, respectively.

Note that the stock for these iPhones may not be huge, as the 256GB model is unavailable in Spain at the time of posting. Similarly, the only other iPhone capable of Apple Intelligence apart from the class of 2024, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, is available refurbished for 240€ off the original price, that is, it’s reduced from 1,599€ to 1,359€, which is a full 15% reduction. That’s for the 512GB storage model, also in black.

Stock varies by country, as you’d expect, so Apple’s German site offers the 512GB iPhone 15 Pro, priced at €1,259, but there are no other Pro configurations, but there are more options for the iPhone 15. Pro Max. You can pick up the 256GB garage-style for €1,129, €200 less than the previous price of €1,329, which is also 15%. discount. The French site offers only one refurbished 15 Pro series, the iPhone 15 Pro Max 512GB, reduced from €1,609 to €1,369, a price drop of €240.

The fact that they are now available in these European sites suggest U.S. releases may not be far off. Which begs the question, how much will the iPhone 15 Pro cost when it arrives in the U.S. Apple refurbished store?

Assuming Apple applies the same reduction of up to 15% to the iPhone 15 Pro in the US, this means the value will drop as follows. For the iPhone 15 Pro with 128GB, the original $999 sticker will drop from $150 to $849, the 256GB Garage-style, which first sold for $1,099, will see its price drop from $164 to $849. 935, and the 512 GB style will be reduced. reduced from $194, to around $1,105, instead of $1,299. Knowing Apple’s penchant for rounded numbers, this can be as low as $1,099. I don’t expect the 1TB iPhone 15 Pro to be available in a refurbished state.

As for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the 256GB storage model (there’s no 128GB storage version of the Max), originally sold for $1,199, so if it comes to the U.S. Apple Store in refurbished form, we can expect this to drop by $179 to $1,019 or thereabouts. For the 512GB model, originally $1,399, we can hope that the price will drop by around $210 to $1,189. Again, I think it’s unlikely that the 1TB version will crop up here.

In the U.K., the prices would look similar, though they’re in a different currency. The iPhone 15 Pro with 128GB storage was originally sold for £999, so we can expect it to sell for £849. The Max started at £1,199 so £1,019 seems on the cards for the 256GB storage model.

For reference, this is a much older cycle than last year: the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max reappeared in May 2024, four months later in the year.

So why so early? Well, a few days ago there were only two iPhones (iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus) in refurbished sales points in EU countries, due to a law that prohibited the sale of phones without USB-C connectors, new or refurbished. . The iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone SE were suddenly withdrawn from sale in 27 EU countries, plus Switzerland and part of the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland. With this decision, two new phones will be available at lower prices.

This also means that two more phones capable of running Apple Intelligence are already on sale, ready to launch in Europe this spring.

It’s worth noting that when Apple sells a refurbished iPhone, it means that it’s been fully tested to ensure it works as it should. Original portions are used if replacements are needed, phones are cleaned very well and refurbished with all accessories.
