Apple plans to make painters’ schedules on sales matters more flexible to operating conditions, Bloomberg reports. The changes come as painters at some Apple retail outlets talk about unionization.
In the future, Apple will ensure that there are at least 12 hours between each shift a painter has to work, compared to the current minimum of 10 hours. Employees will not have to work after 20:00 for more than 3 days. a week, unless they are late for the paintings.
Employees will no longer be scheduled to paint more than five consecutive days, rather than six consecutive days, although there may be exempt vacations and new product launches, and full-time painters will be entitled to one committed weekend for each semester. it was that they paint.
Workers who spoke to Bloomberg said Apple plans to implement those schedule adjustments in the coming months, and they will add to the new benefits introduced in February. In February, Apple increased the number of days paid for health issues available, introduced more vacation days and more parental leave.
Apple’s retail outlets in Washington, New York, Maryland and Atlanta have taken steps toward unionization, with workers not having an easy top salary, more vacations, better retirement features and other benefits, but none of those efforts have paid off to date.
Apple’s head of retail sales, Deirdre O’Brien, sent a video to workers in May to dissuade them from unionizing. “It’s your right to register with a union, and it’s also your right not to register with a union,” O Brien said in the video. He said workers deserve to “consult with a wide diversity of other people and sources” to fully understand what it would mean to “work at Apple under a collective bargaining agreement. “
O’Brien said a union would make it harder for Apple to implement “immediate and widespread changes” and could “make it harder for [Apple] to temporarily act on the issues” workers point to.
