The synthetic intelligence market has skyrocketed over the past decade. While platforms such as Amazon’s Alexa, Apple’s Siri, Microsoft’s Google Assistant, and Cortana dominated the market, those corporations were to blame for this growth. Instead, a fierce festival among the largest corporations has led to competitive acquisitions of new artificial intelligence companies.
According to knowledge compiled through CB Insights, there were a total of 635 acquisitions of synthetic intelligence between 2010 and September 2019. These purchases also increased six-fold between 2013 and 2018, with 166 acquisitions in 2018 in 2018, an increase of 38%. year after year. Array For corporations like Apple, Google and others, those purchases can almost be connected to a new product or feature.
The most sensitive on the list is Apple, with 20 acquisitions since Siri acquired in 2010. For example, the generation giant acquired Novauris Technologies and Voysis to express the popularity of its voice assistant platform. Apple has also bought corporations like Perceptio and RealFace to expand its Apple identity generation.
Google continues with 14 acquisitions during the same period, once leading all generation corporations in synthetic intelligence acquisitions, between 2012 and 2016. Google took over DeepMind Technologies to expand synthetic intelligence programs. It has also acquired corporations such as Api.ai and Superpod to strengthen Google Assistant features.
Microsoft got 10 new companies, Facebook acquired 8, and Amazon got seven in total. Of the 489 companies that have launched an AI in the last decade, 431 have a company. This means that those tech giants, and Apple in particular, dominate this AI arms race.
Unfortunately for Apple, it doesn’t seem like all those expenses have resulted in an artificial intelligence platform that dominates the market. According to the Voice Platform Impact Ranking, which takes into account customer adoption and ecosystem support, Siri has fallen into competition. On a scale of -250 to 250, Alexa lately scores at 110.2 and Google at 97.3, while Siri is only 38.3 ahead of Samsung’s Bixby.
So far, the Siri ecosystem has not expanded beyond the iOS operating system. Meanwhile, Google Home and Amazon Echo gadgets gain advantages from the physical power of many third parties. It would appear that the cash spent does not necessarily mean a long-term expansion or success, however, Apple continues to make acquisitions in 2020.
