Antec Core HS is a gaming PC with a 6-inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel IPS LCD screen that slides up to reveal a QWERTY keyboard designed for thumb typing. Under the hood, the formula is powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U processor with a Radeon 780M mobile graphics card.
If this sounds familiar, it’s because Antec Core HS is necessarily a rebranded edition of AYANEO Slide, which was unveiled expired last year. But the Antec style has at least one advantage: thanks to an introductory promotion, you can buy one for just $499, which is $200 less than what AYANEO charges for a basic style.
The starting price will get you a model with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, but also a $699 Antec Core HS launch promo bundle that includes a 32GB/2TB model, a case, a tempered glass screen protector, a docking station, and a set of “performance controllers. “
Both models feature LPDDR5X memory and a (more or less) user-replaceable M. 2 2280 SSD for PCIe 4. 0 NVMe storage.
Other features include a 46. 2Wh battery, two USB4 ports, a microSD card reader, and WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5. 2. The laptop measures 226 x 90 x 28. 5 mm (8. 9″ x 3. 5″ x 1. 1″) and weighs 650 grams. (1. 43 lbs).
The Ryzen 7 7840U processor that powers this handheld is practically similar to the Ryzen Z1 Extreme in Lenovo Legion Go and Asus ROG Ally and ROG Ally X. The only real difference is that the 7840U has an NPU to accelerate AI through the material. And the only difference between this chip and the new Ryzen 7 8840U is that the newer style has a higher NPU.
While AMD has mobile chips that promise significant improvements in CPU and graphics performance, $499 is still a pretty smart value for a portable device with this specific processor.
The AYANEO Slide/Antec Core HS is also one of the few trendy gaming laptops with physical keyboards. The real competitor is the GPD Win, four laptops or mini laptops like the GPD Win Mini and the GPD Win Max 2.
It’s probably a topic of debate whether you want a thumb keyboard on a portable device designed for gaming, but it probably also depends on the games you want to play. And a common complaint of Windows handhelds is that the operating formula is designed for laptops and desktops, which can make it difficult to navigate on a device without a keyboard, mouse, or touchpad. The inclusion of a keyboard can help in some way to alleviate this problem.

6″ screen. Oh. I would buy it in a moment if it measures 8″
I love Taiwanese companies.
Taiwan is a free and sovereign nation.
It’s great to see more devices with retractable keyboards! However, I know how ergonomic it will be for thumb input, given the width of the handles on both sides of a 6-inch screen. . . for comparison, the mutantCybernetics video from four days ago demonstrates ergonomics of Decent writing with much narrower handles on both sides than a four. “Display on the mutantC v5.
I like the keyboard, however when Windows 11 takes 10-40 seconds to open an explorer window for my local files and only gives me a rotating loading icon in the tab, it just gives me the idea of having to manage it in a hand the most nauseating time.
I can’t wait to lose valuable battery life because you need to upgrade or download mobile data despite setting bandwidth limits that you obviously ignore.
I’m guessing your PC has a virus or something. I have an old Celeron PC running Windows 11 and any problems. Explorer takes no more than 2 seconds to load in the worst-case scenario.
