Nvidia’s high-end max GPUs are truly the ultimate productive value. I to elaborate. It’s not clickbait, but a genuine point of view.
Nvidia, as we all know, presented its new circle of relatives of the RTX 50 graphics cards. And properly the RTX 5090 is an absolute monster, each and every one of $ 2,000. Meanwhile, the rest of RTX diversity is, in fact, it is less expensive than expected. Does it really make the ’90 card more speechless than ever?
Up to a point, absolutely. How many of us can afford $2,000 on a GPU? It’s an incredible amount of money to spend on a hobby, even one so very dear to our hearts. Really, forget about the 5090, barely anyone is going to buy one in the broad scheme.
But wait. Suppose he bought an RTX 4090 when it was launched just over two years ago. Just to update my argument a bit, I will assume that you controlled to take one at $ 1,600 PDSF. Some other people have done it, much more had to pay the opportunities.
Well, here you are over two years later and Nvidia has just launched its new RTX 50 graphics boards. If you ignore the marketing fluff, the new RTX 5090 looks to be about 30% quicker than your RTX 4090. And the new RTX 5080 is at best comparable to your RTX 4090.
I grant, the new Blackwell architecture may give the new 5080 a bit of an edge in ray-traced games thanks to improvements to the RT cores. But I very much doubt it will be enough that you’d actually be able to feel the difference in games.
In addition, the RTX Four0 series supports the vital piece of the new suite of the four DLSS features, namely the new edition founded on a transformer. Yes, the Gen 3X frame serves as it has made many headlines. But its benefits are much more ambiguous.
The problem with frame gen is that it doesn’t really work when you most need it. More specifically, it does nothing to help with latency, it actually worsens latency, albeit by an impressively small amount.
But the fact is that massively adding to the frame rate when, for example, its benchmark functionality before frame generation is something horrible like 15fps, the game feels lagging.
Everyone will have a view on what is an acceptable minimum frame rate regarding latency. If we’re talking high-end GPUs, I’d say at least 60 fps. If you then add frame gen onto that, you’re looking at 100 fps-plus.
Adding a frame of photograms generation to this figure of more than 100 fps will make things a bit softer. But it is a marginal gain, not a total change, well, a change of game. Anyway, with an RTX 4090 in my team, the conclusion is that I would still want the RTX 5090 to obtain a really extensive and profitable update.
And here is the Botter. This is probably true for the total life cycle of the new RTX 50 family. What once again is maximum, it still means two years. In other words, if you bought an RTX 4090 when you are launched, you are 4 years old with the fastest and fastest and very effective card.
Therefore, it costs $ 1,600 for 4 years of bleeding games, or $ 400 per year. The new RTX 5090 is $ 2,000, so it will be $ 500 consisting of the year. That is what I think is an intelligent value.
As an alternative, suppose you bought an RTX 4070 at the launch. They are $ 600. Two years later, you are much more likely to feel a little to the left. 4070 a little larger than 3070 and is probably beginning to fight a little in some of his new favorite titles.

Of course, the challenge with this argument is the large upfront cost. I don’t have a lot of admission with $1,600 upfront, and I’m even lower with $2,000. I also admit that this argument would not possibly also paint with the RTX 5090 more widely compared to the 4090.
The 5090 is still in TSMC N4 Silicon and is obviously not such a vital lead in 4090, since this GPU was in 3090. Therefore, perhaps the RTX 6090, probably) adapts better to this story. After all, it is very likely that at least it will be transferred to TSMC N3 Silicon and can be ahead. In fact, all this only adds weight to the concept that 4090 was a correct acquisition in the launch.
Anyway, I realize that it is not a very productive argument. The initial prices are higher enough to exclude many of us from the beginning. I perceive that.
