A veteran Ukrainian journalist who fled the war in Ireland with his wife and family helped organise a photo exhibition in Cork to highlight the devastating effect of the Russian invasion on his country.
Yevgeniy Ikhelzon, former deputy editor of Ukraine’s largest daily Segodnya, who now lives in north Cork, said a similar exhibition opened at the German parliament building, the Bundestag in Berlin, on Tuesday and that there are hopes that the demonstration will take place. excursion to European villages in the coming weeks.
The images, taken by some of Ukraine’s top war photographers, were taken along the 580-kilometer high-risk front line over the past two months.

The exhibition Ukraine: The Cost of Freedom also highlights the pain and struggle of Ukrainian citizens, tens of thousands of whom have resisted the Russian invasion for more than two months without food, water or electricity, and millions forced to flee.
Ikhlezon said he and his fellow Ukrainians had experienced something indescribable.
“Photographers and journalists have risked their lives in combat zones to capture the atrocities of Russian attacks on our cities, towns and residents,” he said.
