Well, when it comes to next-gen GPUs, AMD’s CES 2025 presentation let us know that the Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT exist… and that’s about it. Unfortunately, we didn’t hear any mention of specs or pricing—no CU counts and no info about VRAM or bus widths.
However, Asus was the first to announce graphics cards featuring these RDNA 4 GPUs in the form of TUF OC and Prime OC variants, and what could have easily slipped under the radar is that these will have “a supersized 16GB serving of VRAM”. In other words, the first confirmation of 16 GB of VRAM for the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT has come from Asus, not AMD.
We suspect we’d be dealing with 16GB of VRAM from at least mid-202 four, with RDNA four GPU specs and functionality rumors. But as we said at the time, we couldn’t accept that true with those numbers recently, and recently AMD told us that “knowledge of functionality for RDNA four is absolutely inaccurate. “
However, the component “16 GB of Vorm” of past rumors turns out to be correct. We do not know if it will be GDDR6 or GDDR7: our cash is in GDDR6, but the 16 GB says it will be a 256 -bit reminiscence bus.
16 GB of VRM will put 9070/9070 XT in line with RADEON RX 7800 XT, which makes sense given 9070, if it were not for the change of AMD nomenclature scheme, it would be an RX 7800 xt. it also carries it in Line with the newly announced RTX 5070 TI and 5080, of which they will have 16 GB of (GDDR7) Vram.
It also places RX 9070 and 9070 XT before RTX FOUR070 TI, which is the graphics card that has a functionality point to which the bites are opposed with the new RDNA cards.
Of course, all this compares Trum Gross’s ability, which says very little outside the doors the context of the bandwidth of reminiscence and general architecture. In this front, we still have as many data as before, with promises to track forward rays, calculation of AI, etc.
We know that these 9000 series graphics cards will be the only ones in FSR 4, which promises “a dramatic improvement in functionality and quality. ” And if the past rumors are something to happen (and remember, AMD means that it is not), we can also be hunting a 45% ray layout functionality faster than the 7900 XTX, which would be more in line with The RTX 4080 Super.
Be that as it may, AMD explicitly focuses on the general public value for functionality “, aimed at a letter that offers exceptional functionality where maximum players buy their letters today. ” I would say that a 16 GB RTX 4070 competitor would be well incorporated in this category, provided that the value is good. Hopefully AMD wait too long for more percentage.
