Amazon has released the full schedule of all videos and TV shows added to its Prime Video (and Freevee) streaming platform in the US. The U. S. list for the month of August 2023. Starting with Amazon’s new original TV shows, the highlight is a twisted new mystery from the mind of Harlan Coben, Shelter and Australian family drama The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart.
Shelter (opening Aug. 18) tells the story of a man who moves to suburban New Jersey after his father’s death, only to become embroiled in a mystery involving students who have been missing from the domain for decades.
Alice Hart’s Lost Flowers (available August 4) follows the adventures of a 9-year-old woman who loses her parents in a mysterious fire and then begins to uncover dark secrets about her family’s afterlife after being sent to her grandmother in rural Australia. .
Another highlight of Amazon Original (from August 11) is red, white and royal blue. Based on the New York Times bestseller of the same title and aimed at a young adult audience, this film describes how, in the first place, hostile dates between the son of the president of the United States and a British prince gradually turn into something very different after they are forced into a complicated truce.
Other Amazon originals for August are New Bandits (from August 18), a Brazilian film about a hapless bank worker who suddenly inherits a fortune and the leadership of a criminal gang attacked from all sides; NBA Destination: A G League Odyssey (starting August 8), which tracks the progress of some of the G League’s brightest customers in the 2023 season; Thursday Night Football (starting August 24), which takes over Prime Video’s exclusive rights to Thursday night soccer games; and Wayne Shorter: Zero Gravity (Aug. 28), a three-part portrait of the life and music of jazz giant Wayne Shorter.
A new original movie will also be available on Amazon’s Freevee service in August 2023. Puppy Love launches on August 18 and stars Lucy Hale and Grant Gustin in a romantic comedy about a young couple who gradually fall in love (after a disastrous first date) while bonding around dating between their dogs.
Focusing on new additions to Amazon Prime Video’s catalog of TV shows and movies that are new originals, several titles stand out. Cocaine Bear arrives to rent or acquire on August 15, as a novelty of its recent film tour and does precisely what is written on the box: it offers a lot of black humor and bloody comedy by telling what happens when a grizzly bear goes crazy after eating a bag of cocaine.
