Amazon’s commercial footprint in New York is officially the length of a Bigfoot.
The e-commerce giant secured a 975,000-square-foot warehouse at Matrix Global Logistics Park on Staten Island, Crain, the largest commercial transaction of the last quarter, reported by CBRE that did not identify the tenant.
Amazon has already rented two warehouses closer to the Goethals Bridge, bringing its capacity to about 2. 3 million square feet. Ikea is also a tenant of the complex, having rented a warehouse of 975,000 square feet.
Since wasting its allocation from Long Island City headquarters in 2019, Amazon has been torn apart by New York’s genuine real estate market. On the other hand, the company leased 335,000 square feet of area to SL Green near Hudson Yards and bought The Lord
It also took a significant amount of commercial space, renting a Bronx warehouse of more than 200,000 feet last year. It was also reported that it signed a lease at RXR Realty’s huge vertical warehouse in Maspeth.
According to CBRE, leasing activity in the commercial sector has noticed an increase in demand, with home buyers buying more food online. E-commerce corporations have dominated new rents in this sector.
