The e-commerce primaries said this year’s Prime Day occasion saw more than twice as many consumers sign up for a Prime subscription compared to the 2019 edition, with more than 65% of new outdoor members in the 10 most sensitive cities. These included Kullu in Himachal Pradesh, Leh in Ladakh, Dholpur and Sirohi in Rajasthan, Koraput in Odisha, among others.
Personal computing, giant appliances, kitchen, smartphones, clothing and pantry are among those that promote as much equipment as possible, the company said. Home fitness products, such as treadmills and home gyms, also saw an increase in sales and the launch of Decathlon products on the platform sold well.
“This Prime Day committed to our small business partners (SMEs), who are increasingly turning to Amazon for their businesses. This was our largest Prime Day ever held for small businesses: almost a small business distributor in Lakh (70% of small towns) got orders for 97% of India’s PIN codes. Karigar artisans, Sahel vendors, Launchpad marketers and local retail outlets enjoyed their highest sales day in their history,” said Amit Agarwal, Amazon India’s senior vice president and national manager.
Agarwal attributed the good luck of the occasion to a combination of factors, which added price for money, product availability and ease of acquisition on the site.
Flipkart and Amazon have organized a lot of sales since unlocking began, with a combination of organized and annual occasions like Prime Day, leading to their most important occasions that will happen before Diwali’s holiday season later this year.
