Amazon Florida driver in serious condition after being bitten by rattlesnake

An Amazon driver is in serious condition after being bitten by a rattlesnake while making a delivery to a Florida home.

The woman placed a box by the front door of the home Monday night when the diamond-backed snake jumped and bit her, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. He got sick and called for help.

He rushed to the hospital, where the sheriff’s office said Tuesday he was in a “very serious” condition. His name and age were not released. The authorities nailed the snake and sacrificed it.

Eastern diamonds are not unusual in the southeastern United States and are the largest rattlesnakes. They can grow to about 7 feet long, but are about four feet long. The website toxinology. com, run by an Australian university, says the diamond turtle bite is fatal 10 to 20 percent of the time if left untreated.
