Facebook on Thursday to quench confusion over November’s election about its service, implementing a series of adjustments to restrict incorrect voter information and prevent interference from President Trump and other politicians.
The social network said it would ban any new political advertising on its online page in the week leading up to Election Day and said it would also take steps to oppose the posts they review to discourage other people from voting. After the elections, Facebook said it would cancel any attempts through applicants to claim false victories by redirecting users to accurate data on the results.

Thursday’s changes, a tying popularity via Facebook of its strength to influence public discourse, did not satisfy critics who said that blocking transient ads would do little to decrease incorrect information and that the social network goes further.
Tara McGowan, executive leader of the liberal nonprofit Acronym, said right-wing Facebook editors like Breitbart would fill the gap.
“By banning new politically ranked ads in the last critical days of the 2020 election, Facebook has to tip the electoral balance toward those with the most followers on Facebook, and that includes President Trump and the right-wing media serving him.”she said.
