Mohammed Ahsan, 27, of Castledine Gardens, Wincobank, Sheffield, went through two sets of red lights and drove at top speeds of up to 70 mph on a 30 mph domain and walked towards police officers, according to a Sheffield Crown Court. hearing on 27 May.
The court also saw speed camera footage from the police vehicle chasing him, showing Ahsan’s harmful driving, which lasted only 4 minutes, for about two miles on the streets of Sheffield.
Registrar Matthew Happold told Ahsan: “This went on for about two miles. For just over 3 1/2 minutes before you came to a dead end and left the car, you were chased and arrested.
He added that Ahsan reached speeds of up to 70 mph in spaces of 30 mph or 40 mph, passed through two red lights and headed toward police officers.
Neil Coxon, a prosecutor, said that after Ahsan’s arrest, he accepted the harmful nature of his driving, but claimed he developed the driving experience of the PC game Grand Robo Auto.
Ahsan pleaded guilty to driving an Audi after the Incident on 30 August 2021, along Prince of Wales Road, Staniforth Road, Main Road, Worksop Road, Attercliffe Road, Effingham Road and Effingham Street.
The court also learned that, as a result of this incident, Ahsan was convicted in a separate case in district court for exceeding the limit of cannabis-related drug use.
Tim Gaubert, an advocate, said that at the time of the harmful driving, he learned that a relative had died and that he was suffering and smoking cannabis.
Mr Gaubert: “He fully accepts and acknowledges the harmful nature of his driving and acknowledges that other road users have been threatened by his madness and actions. “
Recorder Happold sentenced Ahsan to months of suspended detention for 18 months with a requirement for rehabilitation activity and 120 hours of unpaid work.
Ahsan was also banned from driving for 12 months.
Happold’s registrar told Ahsan: “Fortunately, thanks to you, you didn’t hurt anyone. “
