76ers C Embiid leaves game with left ankle injury

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Florida (AP) – Philadelphia Joel Embiid left in the first quarter of the 76ers game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday after injuring his left ankle.

Embiid approached to defy a shot, then recoiled and awkwardly entered the chandelier. He came out of the game at 6:18 for playing in the first quarter. He tried to stretch his foot, then received medical help before heading to the locker room. The team said he wouldn’t come back.

Embiid, an All-Star, leads the 76ers with 24 problems and 12 rebounds consistent with the game. He averaged 30 problems and 13.5 rebounds since the reboot.

The 76ers already lack Ben Simmons from a knee injury.
