7 destinations to enjoy slow only in India

If you’re tired of the sea, head to Dhyaana Farms, an off-the-grid luxury farm near the UNESCO-listed Ajanta and Ellora Caves. The solar-powered assets have just five cabins, all of which are rustically designed with generous use of wood and floor-to-ceiling windows. As for the food, most of the dishes are made with ingredients from Dhyaana’s own farm. Once you’re done exploring the nearby caves and the famous Bibi Ka Maqbara, commissioned in 1660 by the Mughal Aurangzeb, the emperor’s son, in memory of his mother, you can sign up to enjoy a small pottery and elegant horseback riding on the farm. Guided excursions and picnics are also organized.

Do you want to delight in the mountains? You can spend a week in the North, a three-room space nestled among the deodar trees, near the town of Kullu in Himachal Pradesh. In addition to the mountain view, the space gives a lesson in architecture, built in the classical style. Kath Kuni prefers wood and stone masonry as the main materials. If you’re in the mood for more region-specific architecture, head to nearby Naggar Castle, built around 1460. The Casa Norte, just a few miles from the hustle and bustle of a busy tourist town of the city, also hosts artist residencies twice a year. And if you just need to relax, enjoy its facilities and enjoy home-cooked meals at the home of Leo and Pakhi, the two dogs who are North’s cute but mischievous residents.
