The assignment of the McLemore complex structure on Lookout Mountain in northwest Georgia continues.
In his first public look at the project, Duane Horton of the Scenic Land Company said the Curio hotel through Hilton, convention center and 245-room spa are half-built and on track to open in February 2024, Chattanoogan reported. They come with two restaurants, a café, and a cliffside pool. In addition, a momentary golf course will open almost at the same time.
The “West View” portion of the complex will feature a convenience store, hardware store, retail stores, restaurants, a concert amphitheater, tennis and pickleball courts, a golf education center, a chapel and French gardens. There will also be a planned emergency reaction facility. That will serve the whole mountain. In addition to a helipad, Horton said they also plan to have a medical provider and specialist on site.
The residential part of the hotel, a golf course village, is under construction lately, while houses are also being built on land sold. Horton said a lot was recently sold for $650,000 and space sold for $1. 4 million.
Since the station began operations, Walker County has already collected $2 million in taxes, with an annual catch of about $315,000. Once the complex is complete, Horton expects it to generate up to $3 million a year in tax revenue for the county.
“Property values at McLemore and the number of tourists in the domain have increased particularly over the past 4 years,” Horton said at the point of sale. “The vision of our investors and the board of trustees has allowed us to have a positive impact on the local tax base. “
Horton said the assets had fewer than 50 employees in 2017 and now have 150. The station is expected to create more than 400 jobs.
